Founded in 1830 on the windswept Isle of Skye, the maritime location of Talisker has inspired many a writer and visitor. Treasure Island author Robert Louis Stevenson declared it “the king o' drinks”. And now it's behind the release of Talisker Storm, a new malt launched in 2013 to great acclaim and a multi-million pound investment.
The only whisky made on the remote, storm-battered shores of the Isle of Skye, Talisker is part of a group of distilleries producing malts in the western islands of Scotland. It has a rugged, intense flavour that's enhanced in Talisker Storm. Created through a skillful blend of differing aged casks, the result is a powerful, smoky liquid, with classic briny, maritime flavours.
How to Enjoy
Talisker Storm is the malt whisky for lovers of smoky flavoured malts. Savour the peppery sweet and salty flavours neat delicious lengthened with water. Talisker Storm also makes a great pairing whisky to a plate of delicious smoked salmon. For more rich berry fruit flavours, Talisker Port Ruighe is matured twice in casks that have formerly held port, and should ideally be sipped neat. There's also Talisker Distillers Edition, aged in American oak casks, and then transferred to barrels that have previously held sherry. This gives it a sultana-tinged sweetness, vanilla and cocoa undertones and an underlying earthiness. It's delicious over ice or with a drop of water.
