Fortified and flavoured wines made in sweet or dry styles, used in cocktails and as an aperitif. The word originated from the German word for the wormwood plant, wermuth.

Vesper martini

Version of the martini using both gin and vodka, and with fortified wine Kina Lillet, now sold as Lillet Blanc. Invented by James Bond creator Ian Fleming in his 1953 novel Casino Royale, the Vesper martini is named after the character Vesper Lynd.

A clear spirit distilled from grain, potatoes or grapes, with subtle flavour and aromatics. Along with gin, it forms the base spirit of the martini.
